Whitney and Tyson met me on a late October evening at the Swan Falls just outside Boise, Idaho for their fall boho engagement session. If you live in the Treasure Valley, you’ve definitely seen a million sessions done at Swan Falls. It’s super popular, for good reason ;). It’s one of my FAVORITE areas not only in Boise, but in all of Idaho. This winter marks THREE YEARS that I’ve lived in Boise. I remember vividly the very first full day I lived in Boise. I went to brunch at Big City Coffee (a must!) and then adventured over to Swan Falls to see the Snake River and the canyon. It’s one of my favorite places to bring couples for portraits and always makes me a little nostalgic.

I’m going to be honest, I think this might be one of my best sessions I’ve ever done. I am head over heels for how incredible the golden light in these photos turned out. We only needed to shoot for about a half hour and every single image was better than the last. I was running around like a crazy lady hoping I wouldn’t lose my footing and fall down a cliff because I was so excited.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret: SO MANY of my couples warn me before their engagement sessions that they are super awkward. Whitney told me from the beginning she was super awkward and bad at taking photos. As usual, I promise her that I more awkward than every human being on the planet and part of my talent is capturing people’s weird sides in flattering/beautiful ways ;). Aside from a couple fart jokes, me falling backwards every three seconds, accidentally dropping my phone down a deep crevice, these two were pros and I laughed the entire evening along with them. I am pretty sure they may have been laughing AT me, especially when I asked them to dance as if they were at a middle school dance, but I’m more than okay with acting like a moron to get real laughs outta my couples ;).

I’m BEYOND happy to be working with Heidi at Ira and Lucy on Whitney + Tyson’s boho wedding in June!! Whitney and Tyson are just the cutest couple and I love their little family. Between their two puppies and two little girls, they are definitely a family full of love and fun.
