I think it’s pretty common knowledge that I’m absolutely obsessed with mountains. When I first received an email from Jessie & Garrett, they told me they wanted NO mountains in their dream photos. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a slight bit intimidated about the idea of working outside my comfort zone, but during our consult, Jessie pulled up a photo from Instagram from Chris & Seth’s engagement session in Missoula, Montana of them standing on a bridge at night under the streetlamp with snow falling around them. She said that photo was exactly the emotion and vision she had for their photos and at that moment, I knew I was going to have some fun. These two fun individuals also knew my work from shooting for Treefort Music Festival in Boise, Idaho and knew I could capture their urban engagement session vision in downtown Boise for their wedding and engagement session!
Jessie & Garrett met the old fashioned way… via online dating. Jessie said she nearly canceled because she woke up a little groggy and didn’t feel well, but they met for brunch and instantly they felt at home with one another. It didn’t take long for Garrett to fall in love with her two sons as well and their life together in Boise grew together. As passionate music fans, these two chose to celebrate their wedding this fall at an infamous Treefort music venue. Every bit of their vision excited me from the get-go and I wanted their engagement session to match the vibe of going to a Treefort show. We grabbed drinks at a downtown pub called The Gas Lantern Lounge and ate appetizers while we chatted about everything from dogs to parenting to movies to music to our shared love of Boise. It was the best time and then we all walked out of the pub a little tipsy and explored downtown Boise. We ended their engagement session on top of a parking garage at sunset.
It was such a perfect evening and I can’t WAIT for their wedding!
