Although their Hidden Springs Barn wedding was two years ago, I still love reliving Ciera and Dave’s perfect fall wedding. When I first met Ciera, she told me that she wanted to be a little bit of an edgy bride and wasn’t looking for a typical “bride” style. I was sold. With a background at Anthropologie and a love of design, Ciera created a boho DIY wedding that I’ll love forever. Ciera and Dave got engaged after more than four years together. Dave is a comedian and together they are a hilarious, kind, and quirky couple. Ciera chose the perfect blush-toned Maggie Sottero dress that showed off her tattoos.
One of my favorite parts of the day was the moment Ciera put on her wedding dress and held her flowers for the first time. Ciera’s mom and step-dad grew her own flowers the spring before her wedding, shortly before losing her step-dad. It was such a beautiful tribute to her family to see her own homegrown peonies and dahlias and fall-toned flowers that required months of tender care be displayed so beautifully throughout her day in the bouquets. As her mom stepped back to see her holding her bouquet in her dress, they both started to cry and everyone in the room (including me) cried, too!
The DIY projects didn’t end with her own flowers, either. Ciera made her own macrame to hang on the arch that her dad built for her. Ciera and Dave cried through their sweet vows in front of 250 of their family and friends on a perfect fall afternoon with a slight breeze in the Boise foothills.
After a family-style dinner with mac & cheese and comfort foods, they danced all night in the cutest barn to indie-folk songs. I snuck them away at sunset to take portraits in the glowy foothills and then said goodbye as they left for their epic honeymoon to Europe!
Thank you so much for your years of friendship & love, Ciera and Dave!
