Lindsey and Darol have been one of my favorite couples I’ve ever gotten to work with. This adventure loving couple got engaged in Iceland, brought me to Rocky Mountain National Park for their engagement photos, and then invited me to their perfect intimate summer wedding on their friends’ gorgeous property outside McCall, Idaho. These two are high school sweethearts whose love story could literally knock you over with how sweet it is. They dated in high school and fell in love when they were just teenagers, but separated ways after graduating high school. Lindsey moved to Boise to start college while Darol joined the marines and moved abroad. They were separated for nearly a decade until they reconnected over social media. Darol was living overseas and after talking daily for months, he flew her to Paris for their first date after almost 10 years since they broke up. They fell in love again immediately and as they both agree, that was it. After being together long-distance while Darol finished his obligations overseas, Darol moved to Boulder, Colorado after proposing in Iceland and they started their life together again.

I can truly say this wedding hit me right in the feels. Moment after moment caught me in tears. Lindsey put on her wedding dress in her parents’ bedroom with her mom helping her zip up the back of her dress. Darol and Lindsey shared their first look on the property in the backwoods behind Lindsey’s childhood house. We made our way to their friends’ property down the road nonchalantly without a rush in the world. It was a perfect sunny June Friday and we had absolutely perfect weather all day. During their ceremony, everyone cried as they shared their intimate vows. They walked down the aisle as husband and wife to The Lumineers and it made me cry of joy for them. Because their families had known one another their entire lives, it felt like stepping into an intimate family gathering. It was just perfect.

For the reception, Lindsey and Darol wanted a boho setting that felt casual and relaxed. Lindsey’s dad crafted every individual wooden table for her wedding guests to gather. It felt like a fancy woodsy fairytale with greenery everywhere and accents of leather and olives in the table settings. They hung twinkle lights above the table setting and one of their biggest splurges was hiring a live folk band to play live music on a gorgeous old wagon. Slowly as the sun went down, guests kicked off their shoes and danced in the grass. McCall had one of its most amazing sunsets I’ve ever seen and one thing most people don’t know is that in mid-June, the sun doesn’t set until after 10:30 pm in McCall. It feels like twilight forever with candy-colored skies.

Just before sunset, we stole 10 minutes away from the party and it felt like a scene from a Taylor Swift music video. We ran through the fields as the sun turned the trees golden yellow and orange. It was so beautiful and gave them an opportunity to soak up the moment for a few minutes privately. We returned back to the party to dance until the end of the reception. When it was time to say goodbye to their guests, Lindsey and Darol jumped into Darol’s baby blue truck and drove away.

Thank you so much for allowing me into your lives for the last 2 years to document these amazing memories, you two!
