Hope and Alexis's Lucky Peak Boise Engagement Session was as memorable as it was stunning. I wish winter was a more popular season for engagement photos in Idaho because look at these gorgeous images! Although it was just a little cold... the winter wonderland was so worth it. Hope and Alexis reached out to me because they had recently gotten engaged. I photographed their friends' engagement photos and knew we were going to get along right away.
For winter sessions, I always encourage my couple's to plan to wear warm layers and warm colors. Winter colors in nature can feel cooler and more cold toned, so contrasting the environment with warm neutrals and bright accent colors is always a good idea! Wearing cool toned or white clothes might make you disappear in the snow, but wearing warm rusts, browns, tans, orange, yellows, red, emerald greens, etc. stand out!
Hope and Alexis gave me full control to decide where to take their photos. I changed my mind several times leading up to their session due to storms and cloud cover. 24 hours before their shoot, I switched locations again and decided to take them up to one of my favorite spots near Idaho City. There wasn't any sun in the forecast so rather than deal with the gloomy winter weather in town, I wanted to embrace winter and find a snowy forest.
Meeting these two was such a joy. They were so easy going and easy to direct. Hope and Alexis met on a dating app while they lived in different cities. However, it didn't take long for them to decide to make long distance work. They are madly in love and wanted photos that reflected who they are. They just moved to Boise together and are starting their lives in the same city. It was so special to celebrate their new chapter as an engaged couple living in the same place!
After shooting in Idaho City for a while, we headed down the mountain to Lucky Peak. I love Lucky Peak because of the gorgeous sunsets there. It's close to Boise and has such gorgeous layers of scenery. The canyon views are incredible. It's also the perfect spot to go for winter photos. We got lucky with a true golden hour and a real sunset! For a Lucky Peak Boise engagement session, we couldn't have asked for more perfect light or colors.
