As an LGBTQ Wedding Photographer, being asked by Miranda and Christine to photograph their Boise Idaho Wedding was an honor. As a queer person living in Idaho, it feels so important to continue the work in our state to advocate for trans and queer rights. Representation matters. I wrote an article about LGBTQ Wedding Venues and LGBTQ Wedding Vendors in Idaho here. Miranda found the article I wrote, which led to her emailing me to see if I was available. Luckily, the stars aligned and I was free for their August wedding.

LGBTQ Wedding Venue

Miranda and Christine’s gorgeous celebration took place at the Cottage at Riverbend in Eagle, Idaho. Located just 15 minutes from Boise, idaho, The Cottage at Riverbend is an LGBTQ Wedding Venue and inclusive of all couples. This lush garden venue features private river access, stunning old growth trees, and an immaculately designed historic Spanish home. It’s the perfect Idaho wedding venue for outdoor weddings. The old growth trees provide so much shade and there are so many beautiful photo locations on the massive property!

A Modern Queer Love Story

This Colorado couple met on Tinder, like all great modern couples. They were both living in Idaho at the time and on their very first date, they spent over 8 hours just talking non-stop. Sparks flew right away! It took no time for their relationship to deepen and develop into a long lasting committed partnership. Miranda recruited their best friends to help her propose to Christine in McCall, Idaho. On a frozen lake, their friends help up signs to surprise Christine with a proposal.

Outdoor Summer Wedding

The morning of Christine and Miranda’s wedding, I was shocked to see the weather forecast was 104. It also rained the night before, creating a bit of a muggy feeling outside. The only time I’ve been more hot while shooting a wedding was in Costa Rica. However, the lush greenery provided ample shade. Miranda was a champ in her custom maroon Bespoke suit and Italian leather loafers. Thank goodness for shade and a slight breeze from the river!

Personal Vows by the River

Miranda and Christine chose to share personal vows privately before their ceremony. They told me that they knew they would not be able to get through their vows without sobbing. Rather than deal with the extra nerves and anxiety of speaking their vows in front of 200 people, they wanted to create a private moment to enjoy alone. The property boasts private access to the Boise River. Once the two of them were dressed, we walked down to the river where they exchanged their own vows. Sure enough, the two of them both cried the entire time through their vows. It felt so tender!

Boho Summer Backyard Wedding

I absolutely love the colors and design Miranda and Christine chose. They share a love for bright color. Drawing from the 70s, they designed a boho 70s dream wedding. Bright orange, yellow, and red flowers stole the show. Due to how stunning the venue itself was, they chose to invest in tons of flowers instead of other decor. The flowers popped against the green backyard.

An Epic Wedding Party

One of my favorite moments of their wedding day was photographing their all female and non-binary wedding party. There were no men in their wedding party… at all. I’ve never photographed an all female wedding party. The energy this group brought was full of sweetness, laughter, and style. The vibrant colors made every person POP against the green lush trees! As an LGBTQ Wedding Photographer, I love leaning into vibrant color and rich tones in my work. It worked perfectly with their dress choices.

The Sweatiest Dance Party Ever

Once all the formalities of the day finished, everyone gathered under the tent for an insane dance party. Miranda and Christine went all out to ensure it would be a wild party. Glow sticks and glow wands were passed out. Funky sun glasses were worn by several people. Layers of clothes were shed. Despite the temperatures remaining above 90 degrees until 11pm, everyone danced as hard as they could. It was a sweaty, epic success.
