Lifestyle Christmas Family Photos at a Tree Lot

This adorable family asked me to document some lifestyle Christmas Family Photos at a Tree Lot in the city. I loved their vision right away. They wanted lifestyle family photos that captured their first Christmas as a family choosing a tree together. Only a few blocks from their cozy home in Boise Idaho, we went to an urban Tree Lot in a parking lot. I followed their super cute toddler as she touched every tree, sucked on a candy cane, and exchanged lots of kisses with her parents. It was such a fun experience!

Christmas feels like such a special time to come together as a family. I am a nostalgic person at heart, so capturing those sweet memorable family memories fuels my creativity. I have such amazing memories as a child picking out Christmas Trees with my sister and parents at Tree Lots. Knowing little Daphne will have these photos to look back on someday makes me so happy! And I love setting time apart in my schedule for lifestyle Christmas family photos each year around the holidays.

My best advice as a lifestyle family photographer is to try to think of family photos as an experience. Plan an activity that you and your family love doing together. Whatever that may be- a hike, making pancakes, walking your dog at your favorite park, hanging up Christmas decor, etc. Planning a real activity and being engaged as a family creates extremely special photos that feel authentic because they are real.

You might remember that I captured an amazing family’s Christmas card photos at a Tree Farm last year in 2023. Immediately, they were some of my favorite lifestyle family photos I took all year!
