Beautiful, Adventure-Filled Sun Valley Idaho Elopement Under a Surprise Rainbow

Sun Valley Idaho Elopement

Erin and Jason’s beautiful Sun Valley Idaho Elopement was full of spontaneity, romance, and tender moments. These two planned their elopement in the Idaho Rocky Mountains in just under a month. After nearly five years together, they ultimately decided a large wedding wasn’t for them. Instead, they wanted to elope in a special place where they have experienced so many formative moments in their relationship. Sun Valley feels like the ultimate romantic getaway and these two have visited Sun Valley Resort for anniversaries, Valentines Days, birthdays, and more. As foodies, lovers of horseback riding, and mountain lovers, it just made sense to have a private elopement for the two of them in a place where they could have it all.

Romantic Getaways & Hotels in Sun Valley Idaho

Whether you are eloping, celebrating an anniversary, or looking for a romantic weekend in Sun Valley, I have the top recommendations for the best hotels. Historic Sun Valley Idaho is a popular destination for travelers, so finding luxurious hotels isn’t a difficult task.

(1) Knob Hill Inn in Sun Valley: This cozy, European inspired lodge feels like you’ve stepped into the Swiss alps. The traditional European chalet style hotel feels old-world and so relaxing. Giant fireplaces, stunning gardens, and warm decor make you feel like sharing a bottle of red wine on your balcony over looking Mt. Baldy.

(2) The Limelight Ketchum: If you love a more modern, upscale feel to your vacations, the Limelight offers floor to ceiling glass windows and a sophisticated air of mountain luxury. The bar within the Limelight is one of my favorite cocktail bars & lounges in all of Sun Valley. Easily walkable to numerous restaurants, shops, and downtown Ketchum make The Limelight the perfect stay if you want to be in the thick of it all.

(3) The Sun Valley Resort: If you’re longing for the ultimate Sun Valley experience, the Lodge has it all. With an on site spa, luxury pool, magnificent restaurants, a long history of celebrity visitors, and more, the Resort is a clear top choice. The rooms ooze old-money luxury and a laid back but elegant feel. The resort offers a long list of amenities and support to help make your vacation absolutely perfect.

Where to Elope near Sun Valley:

Planning a Sun Valley Idaho elopement from far away can feel overwhelming. The cozy mountain town is smack dab in the middle of several incredible mountain ranges and it can feel daunting trying to pick just one amazing spot when there are so many to choose from!

(1) Stanley Idaho: If you’re feeling up for an adventure, driving just an hour away rewards you with some of the most dramatic mountain landscapes in the entire state. The Sawtooth Mountains are truly spectacular and more than worth the drive.

(2) The Top of Mt. Baldy at the Roundhouse: Dreaming of getting married on top of a mountain? If you are planning your Sun Valley Idaho Elopement, I highly recommend checking out the Roundhouse. Taking the gondola up to the top of Mt. Baldy costs only $20 and allows you to experience the magic of the ski resort year round- even in summer. The restaurant is open year round so you can finish your mountain top elopement with an amazing fine dining experience.

(3) The Boulder Mountains: One of my favorite spots to help couples plan their elopements! The Boulder Mountains are only 15 minutes from Ketchum via car and their dramatic, jagged appearance makes them a photographer’s dream. There are a few recreational areas where you can elope or have an intimate wedding for under 20 people without applying for a permit. If you imagine feeling immersed in the wilderness without any people around with mountain views, the Boulders are simply incredible. I highly recommend the Boulder Mountains for your Sun Valley Idaho elopement!
