Boise Idaho Creative Headshots

When Kelsey asked me to shoot her Boise Idaho creative headshots to update her portfolio as a graphic designer, I was so honored. Kelsey has some exciting career goals and wanted to update her Linked In portfolio to reflect who she is as designer now. A lot of professional studio photographers have a stiff approach to taking business headshots. We both poured over inspiration online trying to find creative headshots. A great headshot should reflect someone’s personality. I knew that I didn’t want her photos to feel like a stock image everyone has. I told Kelsey to bring two outfits: one ‘professional’ outfit she’d wear to a job interview and one personality outfit. Taking Boise Idaho creative headshots was such a blast.

How to take Creative Headshots

  1. Instead of the traditional blazer/pant suit outfit, wear something you’d wear in your profession to a nice event or job interview. Think outside the box! Don’t be afraid to wear your favorite bold print
  2. Add accessories! Jewelry can be a great way to show off your personal style.
  3. Incorporate interesting furniture into your shoot. Also, bring realistic props you’d use in your job setting as well such as a laptop, drawing/art supplies, coffee cups, your planner, etc.
  4. Choose a branding photographer you feel comfortable with. Ask them to take photos of you smiling and laughing! Your photos don’t have to be boring!
  5. Don’t be afraid to think of creative poses and atypical spots for your shots. Sit on the ground. Change up your background with different textures or color. As a professional headshot photographer, I like renting studios with different background options.
  6. Consider hiring a stylist to help you choose outfits that make you feel confident and tell your story as a business owner, an artist, ect. Laura Tully is located locally and would love to help you style your Boise Idaho Creative Headshots!
