Chrissy Teigen spoke at the Idahoans United Rally in downtown Boise Idaho to support Prop 1. As a Boise event photographer, I was lucky enough to witness her speech and document the outstanding event. Along with Chrissy Teigen, several local OBGYNs, physicians, and mothers in the Treasure Valley also spoke. Their words were full of deep pain but also hope for a better future. The rally drew around 500 attendees and felt like an intimate conversation full of intention.
As a mother and activist, Chrissy Teigen shared the honest and heartbreaking story of losing her son, Jack, at 20 weeks old. Medical intervention saved her life, but she tragically lost her son. It wasn’t until MONTHS after losing their son that Chrissy realized she technically had an abortion in order to save her own life. She discussed the “taboo” around the word abortion as well as the onslaught of negative public opinion that fell on her once she announced she had an abortion. She recounted the experience in a letter shared by Medium.
The Real Impact of Abortion Bans in the State of Idaho
The reality is that in Idaho, we are losing OBGYNs and doctors at a rapid pace. Since Roe v Wade was overturned in 2022, Idaho has become one of the most restrictive states in the country for abortion and reproductive care. It’s shocking. And it’s unfortunately true. Access to reproductive healthcare in Idaho is becoming increasingly difficult and a challenge to both doctors and residents. As a Boise event photographer, this was a deeply personal event to document. It meant the world to me to photograph all of the amazing people in the room who gathered in community.

In the state of Idaho, you can also register to vote on the SAME DAY you vote. All you need to do is show up with your driver’s license and a piece of mail with your mailing address.
