frequently asked questions
You could say I'm a hopeless romantic and a party lover. I grew up reading everything I could get my hands on and watched every romantic comedy on television. I LOVE seeing what makes every relationship special and observing different personalities as they come together to form a unique bond only the two of you share! I also love to dance and coming from a huge family, I've attended tons of weddings. You bet I'll be dancing right there with you at your reception and making you feel excited ALL day long on your wedding day.
[/toggle][toggle color="Accent-Color" title="what gear do you use?"]I have 4 Nikon D750s on me at all times on a wedding day in case one of them has an issue. I only shoot with prime lenses for artistic purposes, so I always have a 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 135mm on me as well. I use flash indoors when necessary with a speedlight on my camera. For editing, I use both Photoshop and Lightroom with my own custom editing presets!
[/toggle][toggle color="Accent-Color" title="what do your packages include?"]I include the finished edited images with printing rights in an online gallery that will be backed up for 5 years and fine art albums. My packages are built around the type of wedding you're having whether that's an elopement, intimate wedding, or big party, and vary depending on how many hours you need to make sure every memory is documented! A typical finished gallery is about 800 photos. I do not include engagement sessions in my wedding collections. You can book them separately 🙂
[/toggle][toggle color="Accent-Color" title="do you have second shooters in your packages?"]Yes! Although, I don't consider my second photographers assistants or second shooters. I pay my second photographers well because I want them to be my partner and add value to your day. My second shooters all have experience as a lead photographer on a wedding day and can handle any situation solo as well!
[/toggle][toggle color="Default" title="how do you back up your photos?"]This is SUCH an important question. Every photographer should be backing up your photos and files in no fewer than 3 safe places. I shoot on dual memory cards so even if 1 card gets corrupted on the wedding day, I have a second memory card that mirrors the first. I have a RAID hard drive storage system as well with all undelivered photos stored in 4 separate drives. I also keep your files safe on my memory cards until your gallery is delivered.
[/toggle][toggle color="Default" title="do you include the RAW photos or hard-copies?"]I do not! I understand that in the earlier days of film photography, the "negatives" or hard copies were sometimes sold or given to clients. However, in the age of digital photography, I deliver every great photo that is in focus. My goal is to capture every moment and give you a fully documented story for the day. Also, my editing style is part of my process and for that reason, I ask that my clients do not altar or edit the photos I deliver. It's part of my artistic vision to edit in my own style. I do allow editing revisions for up 7 days after your gallery is delivered!
[/toggle][toggle color="Default" title="will you tell me how to pose/what to do with my hands???"]YES. Although my portfolio and IG feed makes it look like every couple is a model that knows exactly what to do to look awesome, it's a team effort between you and me to get those amazing candid moments. I will guide you the entire time so you know you look AWESOME and don't feel awkward. I like to direct my couples into natural moments with dorky phrases and things to do that will keep the mood light and fun. I also encourage bringing your favorite booze, music, and anything that feels like YOU 🙂
[/toggle][/toggles][toggles style="minimal_small"][toggle color="Accent-Color" title="how long have you been a photographer?"]Thank you, thank you! 😉 After 8 years as a photographer and 5 years shooting weddings, I can confidently say I have enough experience to handle just about anything. Any lighting situation, any schedule mishap, any disaster – all of it! I have taken media courses in Photoshop and Lightroom, continue to expand my education by attending workshops, and upgrade my gear so that I always have the most up-to-date technology.
[/toggle][toggle color="Accent-Color" title="what do you charge for out of state weddings?"]I travel for about 50% of my weddings and have packages built with all travel costs included in them already! My in-state Idaho packages start at $3,500. My out-of-state packages start at $4,400.
[/toggle][toggle color="Accent-Color" title="do you only shoot elopements?"]NO! I have shot weddings with over 600 guests and as few as 2 guests. Ha. I can rock any wedding no matter the size.
[/toggle][toggle color="Default" title="can I print my own photos?"]Yes! I also sell prints through a professional printer directly through your photo gallery. I usually recommend a professional printer over Walmart, Costco, Walgreens, ect. for any prints larger than a 5x7 that you plan on framing. Professional labs use true to color printers and the resolution is sharper 🙂
[/toggle][toggle color="Default" title="what happens if you get sick or can't make it to our wedding?"]Unfortunately sickness and emergencies do happen. I have a great community of photographers in Boise and around the country. In the event that I am too sick or I've been in a car accident or something beyond my control that is an emergency has happened, I will find a trusted back-up photographer before you even have to stress about it. I will then edit the photos as normal and deliver the gallery as promised.
[/toggle][toggle color="Default" title="how long does it take to get my photos back?"]Because I travel for 50% of my work and have fluctuations with my work schedule, I try my best to get your wedding photos to you in less than 8 weeks. My busiest time is June through October. Engagement sessions average 4 weeks 🙂
