Documenting Robbie & Kaitlyn’s snowy Lake Tahoe Proposal Photos felt dream-like. You may recall that I photographed their Big Sur Elopement here, but I never shared their stunning and emotional proposal! Proposals make me giddy. It’s hard to describe, but the feeling I get right before shooting a proposal always feels like watching my favorite romantic comedy movie!

Planning A Proposal on Lake Tahoe

When Robbie first reached out to me about taking their Lake Tahoe Proposal photos, he was completely open to my suggestions for locations. I went to work right away scouting the perfect spot for their wintery proposal. His only request was that it be near the lake, so I recommended several beaches and panoramic spots for him!

Inspiration Point: Inspiration Point provides an amazing view of Emerald Bay. There is a small picnic area and parking lot. Depending on the time of year and season, it can get extremely busy. However, in the winter, you might get lucky!
Zephyr Park: Zephyr Park is a massive 70 acre park with camping, picnic tables, tennis courts, and a beach.
Sugar Pine Point State Park: If you’re up for a bit of a hike, there is a short trail with private beach access here.
Sand Harbor State Park: This is probably the most obvious spot- but believe it or not, this is where I took Robbie and Kait’s photos!
D.L. Bliss State Park: A drive up, no effort scenic location.

Winter Proposal on the Beach

Lake Tahoe is notorious for the stunning views all summer long when its turquoise waters invite visitors in for a swim- but winter is so underrated! When Robbie got down on one knee, the snow added to the romantic feel of their December proposal. The contrast of the snow and the beach made me swoon. Kait had no idea what was about to happen when Robbie dragged her out to the beach in a snowstorm. But the moment he dropped to one knee, she started crying and could barely speak. When she turned around, she saw me immediately and recognized me from the year of following me on Instagram!
