Kate and Dave’s spectacular Sun Valley Wedding at The Roundhouse Lodge was memorable and packed full of celebration. On our first call together, Kate told me she wanted honest, true wedding photos that reflected the emotion and joy during their wedding day. She told me she didn’t want any corny wedding photos she’s seen on Instagram or Pinterest. Nope- she didn’t want any manufactured moments or silly photo prompts to illicit fake emotion. Kate and Dave dreamed of pure documentary wedding photographer and I felt truly honored they chose me for the joyful job of photographing their Sun Valley Wedding. And I loved every moment of it.

The first part of their day occurred at the Sun Valley Lodge. The Sun Valley Lodge remains iconic for many reasons. The famous hotel & resort was visited by numerous celebrities, presidents, and artists who came to Sun Valley to ski and enjoy Idaho’s Rocky Mountains. Some of these celebrities include Marilyn Monroe, Ernest Hemingway, Clint Eastwood, Bruce Willis, and more. Every room in the Sun Valley lodge has stunning views of Mt. Baldy, amazing natural light, and spacious well decorated rooms. Kate’s sweet friends and mothers joined her as she got ready for her wedding day. Groomsmen Getting Ready Photos at The Limelight in Ketchum Idaho

Dave and his groomsmen decided to stay at the modern, upscale Limelight Hotel in Ketchum! When I arrived, the vibes were already great. Dave and his groomsmen shared a toast with some scotch and played country music on their balcony. In light of deciding to take documentary wedding photos, I chose not to pose them too much or worry if they were all perfectly dressed. I enjoyed how casual and fun these photos turned out to be because they feel so true to the moment!

Stunning Wedding Ceremony on Top of Mt. Baldy in Sun Valley Idaho

Summer lift access on the Roundhouse Gondola runs every day from 9am-4pm. If you happen to be planning a destination wedding, giving your guests the ultimate Sun Valley experience with a ride on the gondola is unparalleled. Because most of Kate and Dave’s wedding guests had never traveled to Sun Valley or Idaho, they chose to share their love of the mountains with their guests by inviting them to the top of Mt. Baldy. And wow- it felt truly spectacular. Also, jaw dropping. And otherworldly. The clouds rolled in at the perfect time, providing a bit of cloud cover as guests rode the chairlift to the top. The wedding ceremony overlooked the town of Ketchum and the entire valley. Their wedding ceremony felt personal, fun, and sweet- just like them.

A Wedding Reception at The River Run Sun Valley Lodge

After their epic Sun Valley Wedding at The Roundhouse, all their guests met them at the bottom of the gondola for happy hour on the lawn. Their guests partied the night away at The River Run Lodge. Hiring a live band created a magnetic atmosphere. Everyone danced until well after midnight and it was an evening I won’t forget!
