Sun Valley Wedding Photographer

Every moment of Janece and Joseph’s magical day made me so honored to be a Sun Valley Wedding Photographer. Truly, it just doesn’t get better. The day we first connected over a Facetime call and I met these two, I had a feeling we were going to align so well. Their top priority for their wedding day was to just have fun and relax. Oh, and they really wanted to spend as much time as they could on the dance floor.

Sun Valley Wedding Ceremony Location: Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church

One of my favorite locations to photograph beautiful wedding ceremonies is the Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in downtown Ketchum Idaho. The stunning church is an architectural dream. The way the architect designed the church to blend the outdoor mountain landscape with the indoor church feeling is flawless. Giant glass windows let in so much natural light while allowing guests to have views of the altar and mountains at the same time. Also, the exterior’s natural copper and wood toned building mimics the bark and natural landscape of the outdoors. It’s simply beautiful and a stunning location to take photographs. As a Sun Valley Wedding Photographer, I’m always partial to outdoor wedding ceremonies- but Our Lady is a true gem.

Unique Wedding Planning Idea: Private Vows Alone!

I hear often from couples that although they LOVE a party, they hate attention on themselves. Joseph and Janece expressed over and over again that they did not love big formal events where the bride and groom get a lot of attention. Their emphasis was all about creating a fun, relaxed atmosphere in an otherwise very ‘formal’ place. To achieve their vision, we decided to take photos after their earlier wedding ceremony time in the mountains. There, they shared private vows by themselves with no one to hear them. Even I couldn’t hear a word! We listened to a playlist of music they created together and sat in the back of my car while I drove us out into the mountains for an adventure. It was so meaningful and special to watch them take a moment alone to enjoy their day.

A Magical Wedding Reception at the Trail Creek Cabin

I have photographed several amazing weddings at the Trail Creek Cabin in Sun Valley, Idaho. For guests traveling out of state, Trail Creek truly shows off what I believe to be the best of the Idaho Rocky Mountains. Mt. Baldy sets a pretty magnificent picturesque focal point on the property and is visible almost anywhere you look. If you love mountains or skiing, you really can’t beat the views.

Janece and Joseph hosted a fun cocktail hour after their ceremony with lawn games, champagne, and an open bar with fun custom cocktails. We joined at the very end before joining the party inside their gorgeous tent. Amanda Seward brought their summer wedding vibes to life with vibrant, colorful florals and table design inside the tent. Their ultimate vision came to fruition and the atmosphere in the tent was bubbly, fun, and not at all too stuffy or boring. I highly recommend Amanda Seward. She is one of the best wedding planners and she is local to Sun Valley. I feel lucky every time I get to work with her as a Sun Valley wedding photographer!

Sunset Portraits at Galena

You may recognize another location in their sunset photos: Galena Lodge! Galena is another amazing location near Sun Valley with stunning views of the Boulder Mountains and the White Clouds. Janece and Joseph told me up front that in their search for a Sun Valley Wedding Photographer, they hoped to find someone who would match their carefree spirit and give them an adventure. Nothing feels more adventurous than a little drive into the Boulder Mountains for sunset portraits. These magical mountains have my heart. The way the alpine glow makes the mountains bright pink and purple feels otherworldly. I’m so happy they trusted me enough to make their entire day special- start to finish.
