There are SO many incredible Sun Valley Wedding Venues- ranging from luxurious, mountainous, to rustic. As a destination wedding photographer living in Idaho, I feel spoiled living next to one of the most stunning mountain towns in the United States. Sun Valley is famous for being the home of the first chairlift in the entire country built in 1936. The Sun Valley Resort is iconic- drawing famous celebrities, Presidents, and even royalty. As a literature lover myself, I love the historical history surrounding Ernest Hemingway who lived in Sun Valley for years and wrote many novels while living there. The Sun Valley Museum of History is a great visit with an entire exhibit on Earnest Hemingway.
(1) The River Run Day Lodge:
The River Run Day Lodge sits right below the famous Sun Valley gondola. The stunning lodge features views of the ski chairlift and the mountains. This incredible venue is beautiful and a paradise for ski and snowboard lovers!
(2) The Trail Creek Cabin & Pavillion:
The Trail Creek Cabin and Pavillion is one of my most photographed Sun Valley Wedding Venues! Trail Creek truly exemplifies mountain elegance at its very best. The unobstructed views of Mt. Baldy and Sun Valley Resort are unbelievable. For guests traveling out of town for a destination wedding, Trail Creek provides an unreal mountain wedding experience. If you’ve dreamed of an all outdoor wedding, Trail Creek is IT.
(3) The Warfield Distillery in Ketchum, Idaho:
Warfield Distillery offers a unique, non-traditional option to couples who love the idea of kicking back at a stunning distillery. The industrial design feels relaxed and modern at the same time. Warfield can acommodate up to 400 guests for a wedding and they also host private events, too. If you’re on the hunt for a great rehearsal dinner space, Warfield is a great option for a smaller welcome party or rehearsal dinner!
(4) The Galena Lodge:
Galena Lodge is one of my favorite fully immersive, mountain Sun Valley wedding venues. Mountain bikers flock to Galena Lodge & Trails for some of the best trails in the state- if not the entire country! Located in the Boulder Mountains 20 minutes from downtown Ketchum, Idaho, Galena offers stunning panoramic views of the entire Boulder Mountains. If you’re up for a bit of an adventure, Galena offers a more remote, rustic experience. The reward is worth it. Personally, I think the views at Galena are the best in Ketchum. There isn’t a more beautiful wedding venue in Idaho if you’re asking a wedding photographer 😉
(5) The Central Idaho 4-H Camp
My next recommendation is definitely the most rustic of the bunch, but if you are looking for a camp wedding venue in Idaho, this is your spot. When couples reach out to me asking about a camp wedding venue, right away, I send them to the Central Idaho 4-H Camp. If you dream of a full weekend long experience without curfews, noise ordinances, or typical wedding venue restrictions, I highly recommend Central Idaho’4-H Camp. Individual cabins can house 4-16 people so you truly feel like you’re at camp again. They also allow guests to camp on the property. The views are unreal and it’s stunning from every vantage point.
(6) The Roundhouse at Sun Valley Ski Resort
For couples who love to ski but also want a summer wedding, The Roundhouse is one of the most unique and stunning Sun Valley Wedding Venues. Located at the very top of the ski resort, your guests will get to share the experience of riding in a gondola and chairlift to the top. Unparalleled views of the Sawtooth Mountains, Boulders, White Clouds, and more grant you true views for 100+ miles on a clear day.
(7) Sawtooth Botanical Gardens
The Sawtooth Botanical Gardens are a hidden gem. If you’re searching for something more budget friendly than one of the Sun Valley Resorts, the Sawtooth Botanical Gardens offer more affordable rental options. Also, they are a non-profit so if you are interested in giving back to the community and supporting the local arts, it might be a great option for you!
(7) Knob Hill Inn Sun Valley
I love the old-European feel of the gorgeous Knob Hill Inn Sun Valley. Being on the lawn of the Knob Hill Inn evokes feelings of being at a German or Swiss chalet in the mountains. To make wedding planning a breeze, Knob Hill Grill offers full catering and bar services for all your needs. Your guests can even stay right on site! Knob Hill accommodates up to 150 guests indoor or outdoors. No need for a backup rain plan- the restaurant and ball room indoors can hold your guests in case of bad weather!
(8) The Sun Valley Club
I have photographed several weddings at The Sun Valley Club for golf lovers. Located right on the Sun Valley Resort golf course, this stunning club house offers a gorgeous traditional wooden lodge. The enormous fireplace in the center of the room is a gorgeous focal point and floor to ceiling windows provide views of the surrounding mountains.
(9) The Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch
Technically, the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch is located outside of Sun Valley. However, I had to include it on my list of best Sun Valley Wedding Venues. It simply IS the best of the best. The luxurious ranch has Michelin Star food and chefs. The all inclusive ranch allows you and your guests to relax and access anything you could possibly desire at your fingertips. Guided fishing trips, private hot springs on site, 3 world class meals per day provided at the lodge, horseback riding- and more. I’ve never loved a wedding experience more than Traci and Pilgrim’s incredible Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch Wedding!
(10) Wild Horse Creek Ranch in Mackay Idaho
Remote, rustic beauty in the Pioneer Mountains! The Wild Horse Creek Ranch is the perfect wedding venue if you share a love for horseback riding and the true ranch experience. The Ranch originally served as a lodging option and home base for miners in the mid 19th century. However, once metal mining slowed down, it became a focal point for recreation and access to untouched wilderness. The amazing property offers horseback riding, rodeos, guided hunting trips, fly fishing, cross country skiing ,stargazing, and more!
(11) The Limelight in Ketchum Idaho
When I think of modern wedding venues and upscale hotel experiences, The Limelight is the first that comes to mind. Sleek and modern, The Limelight is unique to Sun Valley. Less rustic, more upscale, the Limelight offers a luxurious experience. The ballroom feels like an art museum! And if you dream about craft cocktails and a swanky dance floor, the lobby features a gorgeous bar and party area.
(12) The Bear Lodge in Hailey Idaho
This newly renovated stunning lodge is located in Hailey, Idaho. The Bear Lodge is private and secluded outside of Hailey. They offer lodging on site as well as a stunning lawn. It’s the perfect wedding venue if you are imagining a backyard, private wedding feel with close access to recreation and nearby lodging. When couples ask me for a unique or off the beaten path venue, I love recommending the Bear Lodge!
