Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch Wedding

Looking for Sun Valley Weddings to inspire you? As a destination wedding photographer based in Idaho, documenting love stories in Sun Valley offers unparalleled beauty. The history, the landscapes, the cozy mountain town vibes, and one of a kind wedding venues create a memorable experience for everyone involved. Also, Sun Valley is a PARTY. People flock to Sun Valley to have a great time.

Known for being a vacation destination, Sun Valley offers countless entertainment. Foodies love the restaurant scene- from steakhouses, fine dining, sushi, to the best breakfast burritos ever. If you know, you know. The historic saloons, bars, and distilleries provide plenty of spots to bar hop when you’re back from that long hike. And let’s chat about the incredible hotels & lodging options in Sun Valley.

Whether you want to stay at the magnificent Sun Valley Resort or find a cozy luxurious cabin minutes from the ski resort, you can find comfort and serenity in the mountains. It’s no wonder some of my favorite weddings I’ve photographed in my career happened in Sun Valley. I’ve rounded up my favorite Sun Valley Weddings from over the years to inspire couples planning their destination nuptials!

(1) Chelsea & Lloyd’s Mt. Baldy Mountain Wedding at the Trail Creek Cabin

When Idaho newcomers Chelsea and Lloyd asked me to be a part of their destination wedding at The Trail Creek Cabin, I prayed they would hire me. Sure enough, I was their lucky photographer who got to take part in such a FUN wedding with some passionate dance party loving guests. One thing to know about me: I LOVE a dance party. 99% of Chelsea and Lloyd’s guests had never traveled to Idaho before. So providing them with an unforgettable weekend became their top priority. They hoped their wedding guests felt absolutely spoiled and they delivered. Every thought and detail was planned with their guests in mind. Their generosity was felt throughout their wedding. And the day itself fell on the most stunning fall day in September. The autumn leaves and fall colors were abundant. It only added to the warmth and joy of their day!

(2) Kate & Dave The Roundhouse Sun Valley Ski Resort Wedding

I am unsure if there is a better way to treat your wedding guests in Sun Valley than a gondola ride to the top of Mt. Baldy! Kate and Dave’s wedding at The Roundhouse Lodge on top of Sun Valley Ski Resort felt spectacular. The drama of the 360 degree panoramic view has to be one of the most gorgeous ceremony locations in the whole United States. And I fell in love with the energy, love, and joy radiating from this couple. A summer wedding in the mountains simply reminds me of my childhood summers. Photographing summer weddings in Sun Valley bring out such joy with me that feels impossible to describe. I’ll never get over Kate’s infectious smile and the gorgeous summer day we were lucky enough to capture.

(3) Rory & Lexie’s Fall Mountain Wedding at the Central Idaho 4-H Camp in Ketchum

A lesbian wedding at summer camp in the mountains? SIGN ME UP! The Central Idaho 4-H Camp located just outside of Ketchum remains one of the most underrated wedding venues in Sun Valley. Spending a full long weekend with their people was Rory and Lexie’s top priority for their wedding.

Since all of their wedding guests traveled from across the globe, it felt like a true once in a lifetime chance to spend as much quality time with everyone as possible. Nearly all of their 100 guests slept on site. This setup created so many opportunities for quality time. They enjoyed evenings around the campfire. Hiking in the nearby mountains. Fishing in the nearby streams. Every morning began with “camp” breakfast. Basketbal games were held at the courts. Their wedding truly felt like going back to camp in the best way. I enjoyed every moment of their unique and non-traditional wedding!

(4) Taylor & Lauren at The Limelight in Ketchum Idaho

If a fall day in downtown Ketchum sounds like a dream, Taylor and Lauren’s October wedding is proof. The autumn colors are abundant in Ketchum in early-mid October and I loved capturing their elevated, sentimental intimate wedding at The Limelight. The Limelight is a modern, luxurious hotel in downtown Ketchum. You can walk anywhere in downtown Ketchum from the Limelight. And! They host weddings and events with a large ballroom to host your favorite people a well as a full bar and restaurant.

(6) Annie & John’s Winter Wedding at the Sun Valley Club at the Sun Valley Resort

Imagine me, on my knees, begging you to host a winter Sun Valley Wedding. I am desperate to document more winter weddings. I believe in my heart that winter weddings deserve more of the spotlight. And in a location like Sun Valley that is famous for its ski resort, you can’t go wrong. Annie and John’s epic ski weekend wedding extravaganza was full of memorable moments I’ll never forget.

From their pre-wedding ski day at Sun Valley Ski resort to their all night EDM dance party at the Sun Valley Club, every moment felt infused with JOY. The views from the Sun Valley Club alone are worth every dollar. Winter weddings feel so cozy and romantic to me. The fireplace became a focal point during their wedding reception, and rightly so. Eating their wedding dinner with a fireplace blazing as snow fell outside felt so perfect for a snowy wedding day.

(7) Pilgrim and Traci’s romantic Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch Wedding

Sometimes a wedding feels like a true once in a lifetime memory. Everything came together for one of the most personal, exceptional, and gorgeous Sun Valley Weddings I will ever be a part of. This couple doesn’t fit the traditional mold- both previously married, this was their second wedding. However, they felt the moment they met that they’d met their true soulmate, a love they’d never felt before for anyone else. After spending even 2 minutes with them as a couple, it feels obvious to everyone that they were meant to find one another. And that is worth celebrating, no matter your history or past. Pilgrim and Traci’s wedding was published on Rocky Mountain Bride, Brides, and Huffington Post.
