Courtney and Kevin threw out the idea of a big ballroom wedding and instead planned an intimate outdoor wedding in Stanley, Idaho with a full view of the Sawtooth mountains. You guys… this wedding captured my whole entire heart. Last May of 2016, I planned a styled Sawtooth wedding that was basically my dream to shoot in the hopes that I’d one day be able to shoot a REAL Stanley wedding. Welp. Courtney saw a photo from that session on Pinterest and the next thing I knew, not only was she hiring me for her wedding, but she changed her wedding date so that I could be the one to shoot it. I was already booked and she changed her date for me. I’ve never been happier.
Of course, if there’s one thing I’ve learned from shooting in the Sawtooths it’s that you have to roll with whatever happens. As much planning as you put into it, everything can go awry the day of. A storm can come without anything in the forecast. Which is exactly what happened on Courtney’s day when she woke up at 3am to get dreamy glowy sunrise photos in the mountains and instead the mountains weren’t even visible because there was nothing but fog an rain.
We waited the fog out and it broke my heart to tell her we had to do the first look anyways, mountains or no mountains. We drove up a secret road to the location I’d picked for the first look and all of the sudden, within seconds, the fog began lifting off the mountains. It was insane and I’ve never seen anything like OR felt anything like it.
Their intimate 30 person ceremony on a ranch was absolutely beautiful. I shed a few tears. With the snowy peaks showing off behind them as they promised each other forever, the moment couldn’t have been more perfect. Their boho style brunch set up blended with the natural elements of the ranch and their donut “cake” was just the cutest.
I kinda think everyone should get married here. 😉 But that’s just my opinion! Vendors listed at the bottom.
