Boise Idaho Winery Wedding

Heather and Damon shared one of the most special non-traditional Boise Idaho winery wedding days I’ve ever experienced. With less than two months of planning, these two decided to ditch tradition and throw a winter wedding at the Split Rail Winery. They dreamed of lots of glitter, fur coats, glamorous makeup, and sparkle. Heather told me she wanted New Years Eve vibes and encouraged their friends and family to dress to the nines. Their goal was to have an intimate wedding all about community, FUN, and safe self expression. Heather expressed to me that she loved the queer weddings I’ve photographed in Boise. Many of their friends are LGBTQ+ and queer so it was important to them for their friends to feel safe to express themselves fully. Color, fun, glitter, and community were the themes of their non-traditional intimate wedding!

Downtown Boise Idaho Wedding Venue

There are not many downtown Boise Idaho wedding venues, but the Split Rail Winery is one of my favorite. The Split Rail was the perfect winter Boise Idaho Winery Wedding venue. The Split Rail is very modern and feels almost like an art museum. The indoor space is so chic and I adore their patio as well. It’s the perfect location for a glamorous non-traditional wedding venue in Boise! Heather knew immediately she didn’t want a “traditional” all white wedding dress. Instead, she found an off-white dress online with silver glitter.

Non-Traditional Wedding Ideas

Creating a fun, non-traditional wedding was a blast for Heather and Damon. They made several intentional decisions to make their wedding feel FUN and unique. To start with, they decided instead of a formal wedding “dinner” with a formal seating chart, they would have oysters. Inviting their favorite oyster shuckers in Boise, they offered oysters and appetizers instead of a massive dinner. Instead of having formal round tables, they created cozy lounges throughout the wedding venue so people could get cozy and relax. Also, their wedding venue is a winery, so of course the wine was flowing all night long. A Boise Idaho Winery Wedding is perfect for a less formal, fun wedding.
