It’s no secret that adventuring to the foothills for Boise Idaho Family Photos is worth it. Boise is a beautiful city with many amazing locations within city limits, but in my experience, driving 20 minutes out of town is so worth it. When this sweet family of three asked if I was available for summer family photos in the Boise Foothills, I said absolutely. Capturing the beautiful summer colors at sunset is so inspiring. I love Idaho summers. There’s nothing better than summer in the mountains!
Best Locations for Boise Family Photos
- Boise Foothills: The Lower Gulch Foothills are a perfect spot for capturing amazing family photos. There are tons of trails to explore here and lots of spots for photos!
- Swan Falls: The dramatic landscape at Swan Falls is hard to beat. This location feels EPIC!! It almost feels like you’re in the Columbia Gorge in Oregon when you look out across the Snake River. In the spring, the snow covered Owyhee Mountains are stunning.
- Bogus Basin Rd: A lot of people know that Bogus Basin Road leads to our incredible ski mountain, but there are also stunning mountain trails and vistas galore. If you dream of true mountain vibes for your family photos, the 45 minute drive to Bogus Basin is so worthwhile. Bogus is beautiful all four seasons of the year!
- Barber Park: Barber Park is one of my favorite spots to visit in the fall for Boise Idaho family photos. The reflection of the fall colored leaves along the river is stunning. Plus, you can capture some memories along the sandy beach by the river. It’s a great location to get a lot of variety all in one spot!
- Lucky Peak: I love taking photos at Lucky Peak! Lucky Peak is only 15 minutes outside Boise and has stunning views of the Boise Foothills as well as the Boise River.
- Bruneau Sand Dunes: All kids love playing in sand! And if you’re up for an hour and fifteen minute drive, the Bruneau Sand Dunes outside Mountain Home, Idaho are an amazing spot for Boise Idaho family photos.
