When C + B asked me to document their Leslie Gulch Eastern Oregon Elopement in the Owyhees, I couldn’t believe it. The Owyhees feel like the best kept secret in the Pacific Northwest. Located in both Oregon and Idaho, this gorgeous desert paradise is less than 3 hours of Boise, Idaho and 5 hours from Portland, Oregon. It’s smack dab in the middle of nowhere, which is perhaps why it’s stayed so secretive. The remote location also helps. All of the desert canyons in the Owyhees remind me so much of Moab, Utah or Southern Utah. In the Owyhees, you’ll find orange rock formations, deep canyons, rivers, and lush desert plant life. Leslie Gulch is an adventure couple’s oasis. The remote location makes it hard to get to. Removed of civilization and completely severed of all communication/cell phone/wifi, it’s a special spot if you want to escape.

With a deep love for Eastern Oregon, C + B wanted adventure elopement photos in a spot close to their hearts. After spending so much time in Bend Oregon and Eastern Oregon, it only made sense to take photos in an adventure elopement location meaningful to them. I felt giddy with excitement when they told me they were open to taking photos in Leslie Gulch. I have never photographed a Leslie Gulch Eastern Oregon Elopement before, but I’ve traveled and camped there for fun in my personal time. Truly, I can’t imagine a more stunning place to document an adventure elopement.

Non-Traditional Wedding Ideas: Elope at a Courthouse and Take Adventure Portraits

I love reminding couples that you don’t have to conform to any traditional version of an elopement or wedding. For example, C + B hoped to be alone and share their vows without any people around. That includes an officiant! Instead of hiring an officiant or other vendors to be present, they opted to pick up their marriage certificate at City Hall and get legally married in Boise. Then, we spent the afternoon in the mountains. We took their Toyota 4Runner to Leslie Gulch, shared some beers before it was time to get ready, and enjoyed the day just the 3 of us.

Even though I’m located in Boise and I’m a Boise Wedding Photographer, I travel all over the PNW! As an adventure elopement photographer, my elopement packages begin at $4,000 and include all travel costs. This includes 4 hours of elopement coverage and travel costs within Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. My elopement packages only include adventure elopements Monday through Thursday. Weekend rates vary due to demand.
