In the midst of quarantine, I was lucky enough to get the kindest email from couple Tom & Tamm. They told me right off the bat that they weren’t a “normal, conventional” couple for me. I shrugged their comment off and when I Facetimed them a week later, I got to hear about their amazing love story straight out of a movie. These two both went through difficult separations from their prior relationships and found one another at the most unexpected time in July of 2019. Neither of them was looking for anything serious, both setting their online dating accounts to looking for companionship and friendship. They became fast friends, but the timing wasn’t exactly right. Later that fall, Tom was headed to Europe to teach abroad and visit his son. Tamm needed housing for herself and her two sons and Tom offered up his house. At this point, they were strictly friends with a sweet connection. However, after his time abroad, their communication became constant and it was evident that they were falling in love. As Tom told me during our Facetime call, he said he immediately knew he’d never been in love like this before because it felt so different from anything he’d ever experienced. You can’t ignore love or connection. 

Tom and Tamm originally wanted to possibly get married in Tuscany and found me initially in their wedding photography hunt finding an Italian wedding photographer. They found Jake and Alex’s elopement and were immediately drawn to their story and the passion and carefree feel of their day. When the pandemic hit and ruined their dreams of an Italian wedding in 2020, they started looking for photographers again in the Boise area and realized I was the same photographer whose photos they randomly found on Pinterest when they were looking for Italy based ones! It was a crazy coincidence. Tamm told me she wanted a lifestyle urban engagement session to capture their love and invited me into their little cocoon of love. I did next to no direction or posing, rather, I blended in seamlessly with the environment and got to take photos as they danced and laughed during their rooftop engagement session. It was SO fun and creative to do something so different for me! Their passion and connection were so inspiring.

I can’t wait to blog their perfect rainy day wedding soon, as well. Love is so beautiful at any age and any season of life. I feel so lucky I got to document Tom and Tamm’s love story!
