Whitney and Tyson’s boho wedding was the perfect fit for Nampa’s wedding venue, The White Barn at Happy Valley Road! Ira and Lucy pulled out all the stops for Whitney and Tyson and it was so lovely to work with one of the best wedding planners in the PNW! Whitney and Tyson dreamed of a boho wedding with a little edge. Every single detail chosen by Ira and Lucy was intentional and helped tie Whitney and Tyson’s story together. As an Idaho wedding photographer, I feel SO lucky to get to work with such incredible talent right here at home. I fell in love with the cooler toned color palette paired with the warm interior of the barn. It was my first time shooting a boho barn wedding, so I hope these photos prove that you can have a barn wedding that isn’t just rustic or cowboy 😉

One of the things that drew me to Whitney and Tyson as a couple and their story was how family centered they are. They met while they were at work. Whitney was working in her office when Tyson showed up to do some repairs in the office. The way her Dad described the story during his speech, Whitney looked down from her desk and saw Tyson rolling around on the ground at her feet. HAHA! They fell in love SO quickly and their chemistry was immediate. Soon enough, they adopted a puppy together and Whitney fell for Tyson’s two little girls. Whitney told me up front before the wedding that she was anxious about having a big wedding because she doesn’t like attention or big groups of people, so she wanted the day to be relaxed and all about their little family of four coming together. Oh, and she wanted to have a killer dress. Mission achieved. It was a day about family and love!

The Venue

A lot of people have been to at least one wedding at the popular Still Water Hollow barn in Nampa, Idaho. However, not many people have heard of the White Barn at Happy Valley Road. I have never seen a barn space as beautiful as the incredible loft at White Barn Happy Valley Road. The owners purchased the 98 year old barn and remodeled the entire barn themselves to restore it back to its former beauty. The gorgeous iron chandeliers were made by the couple and every furniture piece in the bridal suite was a vintage piece they restored. I loved the heart behind their mission to make this one of the most beautiful venues in Idaho. With the ability to fit up to 225 guests, it has plenty of space to have a great party and reception! The backyard also has room for an outdoor ceremony or reception should you skip the interior space!

The Reception

Ira and Lucy designed the most beautiful outdoor boho reception. Heidi chose a mixture of macrame and ceramic boho details for the table settings with lots of texture. My favorite design element may have been the sweetheart table with equipale chairs and the hanging floating air plants above. It was truly the focal point of the reception. Horsewood catering provided the scrumptious dinner. They are one of my favorite catering vendors in Boise because they go the extra mile to decorate their food set-up themselves and roll up in a self-sufficient van- no kitchen space necessary! Also, I’m convinced that no reception should ever be without an ice cream truck now. The Nampa wedding vendors at this wedding truly knocked it out of the park. Spoon Thumb served ice cream after dinner was served and my favorite was the poppyseed- UGH! YUM! Soundwave Events hosted the most epic dance party I have experienced in a while. When Whitney’s Dad jumped behind the stand and played DJ for two songs, the entire crowd lost it. I lost it. The people loved it.
